Wolverine in Staten Island is at Quazi Supply, 519 Port Richmond Avenue, 10302. We stock the Floorhand wedge, the Raider Carbonmax, and a rotation of the heavier-duty Overpass and Hellcat lines depending on the season. Open 11 to 8 every day. The Wolverine boots sit next to the Thorogood wall — both are the lighter-on-the-foot answer in our shop.

Wolverine has been making boots in Rockford, Michigan since 1883. Some of the line is still made in the U.S., some is sourced overseas — the brand is honest about the split on the box and we'll tell you which is which on the floor. The Wolverine 1000 Mile (heritage line) is U.S.-made; the Floorhand and the Raider are imported. If you're specifically looking for American-made and you want Wolverine, ask for the Made in USA tag on the box.

Floorhand is the SKU we sell most. 6-inch, steel toe, waterproof, wedge sole. The wedge is the reason — flat, grippy, doesn't tear up a finished floor, doesn't dig a heel into wood subflooring. Finish carpenters, hardwood installers, plumbers doing service calls in occupied homes, and electricians on residential service work all reach for it. It's lighter on the foot than a Pit Boss or a Boondock and that adds up over a 10-hour day. Sized true; the toe box is moderate, not as wide as a King Toe.

Raider Carbonmax is the modern athletic-style work boot. Composite (Carbonmax) toe, waterproof, Cushion+ insole, 6-inch lace. It's the boot we hand to anyone walking in saying 'I want something that feels like a sneaker but with a toe cap.' Electricians who walk a lot of square footage on commercial fit-outs love it. Light, doesn't kill the foot at hour eight, real ASTM impact rating in the toe.

Hellcat is the heavier-duty pick. Composite or steel toe, more aggressive lug, better support for a guy carrying real weight on his back — laborers, ironworkers, demolition. The Overpass line is the cold-weather waterproof version with full-grain leather and a more traditional silhouette.

Fit reality: Wolverine generally runs true-to-size with a moderate toe box. The Floorhand wedge has a relatively low collar at the ankle and almost no break-in — wear it home from the shop and you're good. The Raider is athletic-cut at the ankle, which is what people either love (no chafing) or don't (less ankle support than a traditional 6-inch). Both take an aftermarket insole easily; the stock Cushion+ is decent but not orthotic-grade.

Trades that reach for Wolverine: finish carpenters and floor installers (Floorhand wedge is the answer), electricians on commercial fit-outs (Raider Carbonmax), drivers and delivery guys who want a soft-toe waterproof pull-on, plumbers on residential service work, and a quiet group of guys who just like the brand history and don't want a Carhartt-branded boot on their foot.

Apparel side is small but real. The Wolverine work shirt and the canvas pant occupy a quiet corner of the shop; we carry the Sherpa-lined hoodie in winter because it's a top-three winter SKU. Most of what people come in for under the Wolverine name is footwear.

Custom printing — screen, vinyl, embroidery — is in the back. If you're putting a crew in matching boots and matching tees, we can do it in one stop. Fleet accounts open at five items, net-30, volume pricing.

Walk in or call. 519 Port Richmond Ave. The Floorhand is the boot we put on more first-time wedge wearers than any other. If you've been in Pit Boss for years and you want to try something lighter, the Raider is the conversation. Either way, ten minutes on the rug tells you what you need to know.
